For some reason I could never wrap my brain around and get Knitting
Every time I tried ... it never came out right
Though I do know how to crochet .. go figure
I hold my yarn similarly to how I crochet. Works for me.
Best beginner knitting advice for crocheters is:
instead of struggling to cast on, crochet a chain, and then pick up loops like if you were going to use an afghan hook. Then you can get down to the serious business of learning to knit without driving yourself crazy on how to start.
My grandma didn't take up knitting until she was 70, and learned to make some very beautiful sweaters before she passed on.
