You said -- "NUCLEAR WEAPONS"

When did Japan become a member of the nuclear club. I would think that they are prevented from joining that club by the non-proliferation treaty. Of course, that doesn't (apparently) pertain to Pakistan, Iran or North Korea (of course).

But, then again, like I said before -- wasn't that *exactly* what China was endeavoring to prevent, by "reeling in" North Korea. But, then again, maybe China doesn't have such "good control" over them...

I must have misunderstood your question because they do not have nuclear weapons for the moment. I thought you were asking what China is trying to prevent concerning the Japanese military. The answer to that question is nuclear weapons.

It's been reported that Japan has around 23 TONS of weapons grade plutonium (per Fox News), that works out to about 8K warheads.

So while they may not technically have warheads; I figure that given Japan's nuclear industry & technical prowess, they could have a working Nuke warhead in a week or two. And they do have their own space inustry as well, so putting one on top a missle shouldn't be a problem for them either.

If Il Jung really wants an asian arms race, then Japan could probably leapfrog him in a heartbeat, and might even surpass China. Which I'm sure China doesn't want to see.

lil Kimmie just opened up a whole can of worms nobody wanted to see opened. If China were smart, they'd send agents into NK and off the whole entire ruling class.
