News reports is that the plane wasn't being tracked by Air Traffic Control, and didn't have a transponder.

News organizations still can't figure out where the plane came from. Yet. They say they called the two seaplane companies they're aware of in NYC, and they don't report any missing planes. No local commercial or civillian airports in NYC area report anything missing yet.

Current picture.

Rain is starting to fall. I guess that's a good thing.

Reporters say "scene is calm, and all is under control".

Now MSNBC is reporting it was a "Cirrus 20", a pretty recent model 4-seat airplane. No source given for that news, though.
