The source was WCBS-TV. Reporter Pablo Guzman to be specific. Mayor Bloomberg now says there were only two people on board the plane - a flight instructor and a student pilot.

Did you happen to catch an earlier report by a WCBS-TV newswoman (I forget her name) speculating that (or reporting supposed witness statements that) one person was reported to have been ejected from the plane and falling into the East River prior to the crash? Putting the tragedy aside for the moment, it is fascinating to watch reports of breaking news because of the possibility of picking up gems like that one. IMHO, after switching between channels 2, 4, and 7, WNBC-TV had the best coverage that I saw, possibly because the anchor is a pilot himself, and possibly also because they just exhibit a higher level of professionalism...
