You're exactly right. All these posts that "It sounds like terrorism, must be a Muslim, who was flying the plane?..." etc. And now we find out the plane is registered to Corey Lidle. I didn't know Lidle was an Al-Quaeda operative.
I've been around aviation for too many decades. Crashes happen, and they have always happened since the 1910s, and they will continue to happen for many years to come. If this was a cornfield in Nebraska in the middle of nowhere, and the plane wasn't owned by a NY Yankees pitcher, nobody would care.
As it is, the media will take every chance they can get to whip people into a frenzy and scare the hell out of them over terrorism, because it's all about ratings for them.
The same media that will bash the government over not doing enough about terrorism will gleefully exploit anything they can remotely connect to a terrorist attack, and if it turns out to be a celebrity involved, it's just as good as far as they (and their bottom lines) are concerned.
Strategerist - you are right - some act like they want it to be terrorism, and some in the media seem to want stuff like this to be terrorist related as well, because terrorism sells ads, and the more they can scare people, the better.
It's unfortunate that there are people in this country who frighten easily, but thankfully we have many Americans who don't scare easily - a large number of whom are in the Middle East right now, making sure the terrorists don't get a chance to make it here.

Thanks for the reality check.

Agree with you.......but.......NYers are anxious, to say the least. When you take the subways underground, the trains leading into Penn Station and Grand Central Station, have experienced 9/11 in your own backyard, and then a year later, a major blackout on the East Coast, which was reminiscent of 9/11, the following year a major transit strike, which again, had folks walking for hours over all of the Manhattan Bridges, the same visual of 9/11, add to this that there hasn't been a single plane crash into a building since somewhere around 1940ish (correct me if I am wrong).......add in the month of Ramadan, the constant jihadist websites calling for the destruction of the Great Satan, with specific references to NYC, DC, it kinda makes ya a little anxious, don't ya think?
