Of all the sports, golf is the game where the players have to win to survive. They don't necessarily need to win, they just need to consistently finish in the top ten or so.
And a lot of these guys just tour for a year or so to make them more appealing for jobs as pros at private clubs. A head pro at a fairly exclusive club will often have a starting salary of over $200K a year.

Unlike other sports that have salaries.
