"I think I'd like to see the GOP maintain control of the House by 1 vote. 218 to 217. Then the DUmmies will totally flip, having missed the prize by just a single seat."
They'd buy themselves a party flipper....
Sorry about that. I meant to reply to the original poster and accidentally clicked on your post. My apologies.
But if you insist, the first round of champagne is on you when we retake the House and Senate.
;-)
Denial - its not just a river in Egypt!
LOL...
20% of voters are politically aware and vote liberal.
20% of voters are politically aware and vote conservative.
60% of voters are politically unaware and tend to vote for the candidate with the most effective ads that they saw at least 8 times in the 10 days prior to the election.
Republicans didn't even start heavy rotation in advertising until after labor day and have a lot of money left to spend. The Foley scandal hit 2 weeks too early to impact the race.
The Democrats might pick up 5 to 8 seats in the house and 2 to 3 in the Senate. The silver lining for Republicans is that we will rid ourselves of a couple of spot light hogging RINOs and the smugness that came with power that has been evident in the last few years will be driven out of others who hang on by the skin of their teeth.
This must have been written before the AP reported that Harry Reid stole $1M.
No, I tend to agree mostly with the article. Foley is definitely not a national issue. Besides, it has been said and I agree, all elections are decided at the local level. When I go into the voting booth, I am not thinking at all about Foley, but who will best represent me and my values, where I live.
Why? Are you planning to vote for Dems because Foley is a homo? Do you know any Republican voters who want Nancy Pelosi to be speaker?
As with all those polls on Bush's approval rating, what they don't reveal is how low the public views the Dems, and how unacceptable they are as an alternative. People were mad at the GOP, but were going to vote for them anyway, reluctantly. Now GOP voters are mad at the Dems, and are going to vote against them, eagerly.
Defiant here is some good GOP news:
IL Governor Blagoevich is in deep trouble, his top fundriaser was federally Indicted today for state hiring fraud:

I belive that Diana Irey (R-PA-12) will be the one who has that one vote that keeps the GOP in control. GO IREY !!!
HaHaHa...I don't drink, but I might be tempted to pop a cork that night!
just a little..but I do NOT belive the foley scandal will effect ANYONE:: but Foley:
1) We don't know who 'knew' of Mr. Mark Foley's impropritety. (I am betting a handful fo Democratic bloggers, and aids..),
2) IT WAS FOLEYE THAT WAS ULT RESPONSIBLE (And good ridance..)
3) Conservatives know that Foley is personally responsible for his own actions/not ALL Republicans- My Congressional Rep is just fine, and a great leader, I don't live in Foley's district!
4) This is Dem-Manufactured.., Ploy to create a friction betwween the Rep party and Evangelicals/Conservatives..
It wont work because we know that Mark Foley and his Homsexual tendacies are to blame for this scandal (and the democrats making it a political ploy) won't help either
5) It will be mostly forgotten by Election day,..
6) The Democracts have NO real plan once election's over they're simple the "anti-Republicans"/anti-Bush
7) Democratic voters have been depressed/not energized this year.. (I can see A LOT Democractic voters excited about Nancy Peloci they way they were about Bubba?? (Sarcasm,..of course..)!
8) We Republicans while not as conservative as some would like are Right on the issues (at least more so than the Democrcats generally are..)!
WE'LL WIN! (Maybe not by much, but WE'LL WIN!!).
The propaganda that the GOP will lose massively in the congressional elections is intended to demoralize US.
It's a potent weapon. Remember what happened in Florida in the '00 election, when most of the MSM announced, citing exit polls, that Gore had "won Florida"?
That premature announcement that "the election is over -- Gore has won an electoral victory" dissuaded THOUSANDS of Republican voters in the Florida panhandle from voting.
Even Bob Beckel, the Democrat pollster, admits from his own research that Bush lost upwards of 10,000 potential votes in the Florida panhandle due to the media's false information.
You and I might think that nothing would stop us from voting --we'd crawl over broken glass.
But the truth is that the tactic was effective: A decisive contingent of weary voters, on their way home from work (they're Republicans, after all --they work!), upon hearing the "news" that all was lost, decided not to bother waiting through long lines to cast a vote that, according to the media, was going to make no difference anyway.
B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his name, Oh!
Thanks. Can Topinka win with this? Or do they need to indict Blagojevich, too, before that can happen?
D, we will see. The FEDS announced there will be more indictments. Topinka might step up, but what this really does is gives down ticket GOP candidates ammunition to say the IL Dem party is dirty like George Ryan.
This really affects the Bean and Duckworth races who are in GOP districts.
This effectively destroys Blago's career for higher office.
The only thing preventing Republicans from winning is themselves. If they hadn't spent so much, expanded government at the fastest rate since the Johnson administration, proposed amnesty for illegals and failed to secure the border, they would likely, at least, maintain their present majority.
