Here's my definition --- TAKING CONTROL OF EITHER THE HOUSE OR THE SENATE. So in other words we won 12 years ago and don't stand a chance of winning this year?

So that someone will tell me REALISTICALLY why my hunch is wrongOne reason is, the American people support their incumbents with a 60% favorable rating, on average. There are more incumbent pubbies than rats. Re-election of a pubbie majority therefore is the most probable outcome of the election.

You can't do wishful thinking, you have to get out and vote. Giving up is not the answer.

Whirring away out of sight is the GOP's get-out-the-vote machinery and it's well oiled, its cogs spinning smoothly and ready to produce a record-breaking turnout on November 7. Mr. Rove and his companion Mr. Mehlman have been busy fine-tuning the machinery for over two years, testing it with spectacular results in little-noticed local elections across the nation, and they are ready to roll and drive their troops to the polls.
This is someting that I wouild like to hear about more often.
Regards,
Robert

I don't like Crist, either, but I don't like Davis even more.

all the polls showing a huge Dem pickupThat was ONE poll, done on the weekend, and it sampled 41% more Democrats than Republicans. But you're willing to believe it.

So that someone will tell me REALISTICALLY why my hunch is wrong.Tip O'Neill, the last good (as in "skilled") Democrat Speaker of the House, summed it up by saying "All politics is local." Foley is out of Congress. The average voter doesn't care about whether some guy in Florida may have sent salacious messages to House pages--well, former pages--well, they were adults after all . . . just what is the story again?

"Wag the Fag" has blown up in the Left's face.A most disturbing visual you've conjured up there.

I'm making GOTV calls in Florida. The majority of people working with me are collage students. These kids are dedicated, committed Republicans. This is not a presidential election so not a lot of people volunteer. It's wonderful to see those people who do coming back week after week to make calls.
I didn't know it but I'm a cog in the Rove Machine (does that mean I help control the weather?)

I don't see into the future, but If republicans are stupid enough to stay home at this time in our history because they don't like one or two things Bush did, or because of some scandal in the house, or any other reason like that, then we are all doomed.
I choose to hope that people realize that this is about more than money, the economy, and some idiot writing emails, it is the fight for our very lives and existence. The democrats will NOT defend this country. They will destroy us. Don't like the spending? You won't like the funding for partial birth abortion either, or for welfare, or for propping up terrorists.
I am just appalled at some of the posts here on FR saying republicans need to be taught a lesson. They will be alright if they actually allow the leftists to take control. Only it won't just be those in DC, it will be those who chose to vote 3rd party, or just stay home. God help us all.

But you are not staying home because you don't like Crist! I do not understand political purists when we have troops in the line of fire in Afghanistan and Iraq. Staying home because one doesn't like the person running for Governor, and therefor not voting for either Senate or House is foolish and plays into the hands of the Democrats.
I have held my nose and voted for people because they are the better of the two choices I had, not because they were who I wanted. Crist is far better than Davis, so I am actively working to get Crist elected.
