in other words, you think "de facto" segregation is somehow BETTER than "de jure" segregation????

Well, yeah. I do. Using the power of the state to support racism, using law enforcement, jails, and so on is much worse than white parents moving to the suburbs to escape integrated schools. Maybe the effect on the minority students is the same, but it's the use of government power that's more pernicious and threatening to American soclety in general. You can't legislate people to love their brother, but government shouldn't be in the business of explicitly empowering that attitude.

care for a "do over", Bubba???

Nope. I'm good.

inasmuch as it's ONLY about what is good/decent for the "minority students" (in point of fact, it is MINORITY kids who get bussed! in the midwest some of out "Indian" kids were bussed 2 hours each way, just so that they could "sit next to" white students!) it makes NO DIFFERENCE at all whether the segregation is "de facto" or "de jure". all that IS important is the RESULT!

also, the VICIOUS racists in the north (and do not be deceived, the NORTH has just as many, if not more, racists than anywhere else in the nation! ANTI-SEMITES, for one group of bigots, are MUCH worse in the north, than ANY place else!)are just as brutal as "Bull Connor" ever thought of being.
