perhaps so, but the north NEVER DESEGREGATED, as the average northerner wanted to LOOK liberal "on civil rights", but didn't want "THEIR precious white child" to have to sit next to someone with a dark skin or different ethnic group (like ME for example!)

don't try to convince me how "liberal on civil rights" the north is. i've been stationed in the army in MD,NY,PA & WI. in MY experience, the north, on the whole, is both less accepting of "difference" and MORE PREJUDICED by far than ANY state in dixie was/IS.

also,the north CURRENTLY has some of the MOST vicious racists & anti-Semites in all of the USA.

Interesting plot.

The decrease in the percentage of blacks in majority white Southern schools in the last 15 years or so might be caused by the increase in Hispanic students across the South during that period. I was surprised to find that Hispanics are already the majority in the school district where I live.
