I spent 10 days there on a fishing trip. It was the best trip I ever took. Flew to Anchorage, met up with my dad and brother, rented a car, drove to Soldotna on the Kenai Pennensula. Stayed in a cabin on a lake. Drove the area for sightseeing, Seward, Homer, etc. Went on floatplane trips, drifted the Kenai and Kassilhof rivers, caught huge halibuts out of Homer.
I will go back to AK and see other places.
I lived there for almost three years, some time in villages off the coast. Alcoholism and cabin fever claim a lot of people. Be prepared. An incredibly beautiful state, great wildlife. But tough as nails in the bush.
