After all, he preached about helping the poor and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Too bad that this guys UM wife is biblically illiterate and apparently makes it up as she goes.

Jesus did not preach about helping the poor and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

Jesus touched on those subjects, and they weren't anywhere near the heart of His messages. Jesus spoke more on the significance of HIMSELF than on any other subject. He claimed to be the Son of God, and that those who believed in Him would be saved, and that those who rejected Him would be lost.

Christ also told the fisherman to cast their net on the RIGHT side of the ship....

I have been fishing and those fish do not care which side of the boat I fling the bait into the water.

Christ told them that he would make them fishers of men.

I will take that that Christ was not only talking about the then but even yet to this day considering what is.

"Kathy, a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church"

The Methodist church in general has turned very liberal. Not only in their politics but also in their understanding of the Word
