alot of this was obvious just by reading what the young man was typing in response to Foley (not that this excuses Foley mind you). he was playing along with him, role playing, baiting him, whatever. these were not the replies of some frightened 12 year old cub scout cowering in fear of a sexual predator.
That was my impression, too. The young man was not interested in sex with Foley, he was just goofing with him. He would say enough to keep Foley going but was not really getting into it himself. I still don't know if it was a political dirty trick or just a trick for fun. I think the purpose of the IM's was probably a political dirty trick. I don't believe Jordan Edmund from Hawaii and Berkeley is a conservative Republican.
The way I see it is that Foley is still a turd. He, apparently, did not know he was being pranked, so he still wrote all that gay stuff in the IMs.
Same story...just a different motive on the young guys' parts. Foley's still a scumbag, and still should have resigned.
As for the rest, nobody else should be taking a fall for this. The young guys are creeps for baiting Foley, but he's still a pervert.
