If we stick to our basic standards, to wit, rule of law, right of the accused to confront his accusers, evidence, etc. we'll be OK in this one.

That's right. What is really depressing me in all of this is NOT Democrat behavior - I expect hypocrisy from that camp. It's all the "hang 'em high" rhetoric from our own side - the "put him in jail" crowd, and you say, "For what?" Followed by the sound of crickets.

Look, I'm quite willing to ban homosexuals from Congress if it will reduce the incidence of adults hitting on children (male or female). After all we didn't set up a Congress for the purpose of making it easy for gays to cruise did we.

On the other hand, if we are going to ban people for any reason at all we really do need clear cut evidence, signed statements from witnesses, and so forth. There's no reason to toss out all of our ancient traditions and laws just because we think we've found a criminal.
