According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

I am pretty sure that the Fordham involved in this story is a staffer (to Rep. Reynolds) and not a member of congress. He (Fordham) is a friend of Foley's and tried to talk ABC out of posting the IMs in their entirety last week after he learned of them and their content - so it seems unlikely to me that he talked to Hastert about them "over the past year" Without hearing what all was said on what you watched, that is all I can offer by way of clarification.

Jeff Trandahl was appointed the thirty-second Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives in December 1998. He was elected Clerk on January 6, 1999, for the 106th Congress, re-elected Clerk on January 3, 2001, for the 107th Congress and re-elected Clerk on January 7, 2003, for the 108th Congress.
Trandahl began his congressional career in 1983 as an aide to Senator James Abdnor (R-SD). From 1987-1990 and from 1990-1995, he was affiliated with the offices of Congresswoman Virginia Smith (R-NE) and Congressman Pat Roberts (R-KS) and with the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on House Administration, respectively. In 1995, he joined the Office of the Clerk and served in various capacities. He was also the Acting Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives from 1996-1997.
In November 18, 2005, Trandahl resigned as Clerk to accept a position as the executive director of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. He was succeeded by Karen L. Haas.

Oh and don't worry, even the MAC is logged so it doesn't matter. If the FBI investigates to the level they can, every computer on the internet has a fingerprint called a MAC. Oh, and it doesnt matter if you ever used your computer to buy something on most sites since there is a MAC to credit card number thing. I've seen this refrain from a number of you (troublemakers?), but I've not seen ONE post out of thousands where anyone has supported Foley in any way.
Defending the fact that he's not a 'pedophile' is not defending his actions..........it's defending truth.
