According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

foley did not use the House e-mail system, but his own personal computer and AOL account.
Also thes IM's were sent after Edmund left the page program.
The big thing that the MSM is, IMO, intentionally leaving out is that Edmund's has gotten himself a bigtime defense lawyer.
Of course most Americans wouldn't WANT that.
I too feel sorry for Foley. So shoot me. The man got duped by a couple of yuk-yuks who either did it for fun or somebody paid them. I think it's kind of mean.
But get a grip...if my kid, or anybody's kid, is EIGHTEEN, well no matter what I like, he or she can do what they want. Yeah I could withhold my vote from a middle-aged predator of 18 year olds but go with me here, homosexuals and young boys. Who would have thunk?

If we've raised our kids right they'll have a clue when approached. Beyond that, well you've got to draw the line of demarcation at SOME age.

I am glad you are feeling that way too. Rush said today, imagine how Foley must feel? He is probably suicidal. He has had a brilliant political career, but like all of us he had his demons.
Unless I hear of him actually having sex with an underage page, I give him the benefit of the doubt. I work in psychology and I know what happens to people when they are molested as children.
I hope he gets the help he needs.

People really need to get the story straight!!!
I've read about this "outing of GOP Congressman" story,found out about it 2 years ago. It's been bubbling under the surface on some militant leftist gay site. I happened to run across it when I was searching for interview transcripts of Santorum in light of the gay marriage issue.
I hear crickets chirping.
You'd think they'd at least mention it since they love to jump on any other unsubstantiated story!

Dreier was outed awhile back
Foley is gone
The other two - I won't name them on a public forum. One of those men is married with two kids.
Others on the list are staffers and a few other names I recognize. No Lindsey Graham!
