I have very strong suspicions about the authenticity of the IMs
I know you can cut & paste IM Text as well as alter them. But this point has never been made.

That thought had occurred to me. This guy got warned about e- mails, so his enemies knew he had a history. Why would someone in his position and post something that could come back and haunt him. Then he checks into a rehab. Maybe he sent them. Maybe he didn't but thinks he did. Lot's of maybes.

The authenticity of the IM's hasn't been a big issue so far because Foley resigned and resigned quickly.
That's usually understood as an admission of some kind of wrongdoing. So, we'll see.
