It will happen

According to the story, this is the last of the Nimitz class carriers. The future will probably be tiny carriers that launch UAVs off their decks. One good thing about USS Bush is that it will in all likelyhood retire the USS John F. Kennedy.

I've always wondered why the JFK was such a dud...

The USS Bush will retire the USS Kitty Hawk. CVN-78 will retire the USS Enterprise.

Personally, I think we need another USS Yorktown, and CVN-79 better be the next USS Enterprise.

Nope, the next class of super carriers is already well into development. Right now they're called the CVX or CVN-21 class but in all likelihood the first ship of the class will be CVN-78.
