I wonder if this story will drag on as long as Abu Ghraib

Bingo. Your words are the winner. Dems will play this act as long as people continue to feed it.

Remember in Through the Looking Glass? The craziness ends for Alice when she asserts "Why, you are all just a pack of CARDS!" and it ends for Dorothy when she finally takes a breath and remembers to try out her ruby slippers, using the word "home!".

She [Ann Coulter] made a pretty good point when talking about the dems going after Hassert The Democrats don't want us wiretapping terrorists .. but think we should be going after and wiretapping a gay man who sent emails

She said this? KEWL! She has said then, exactly, what I see about this matter, too!

Unless the acts (such as internet communications) are taking place across state lines. Then federal law (18) applies.

Why did Sandy Burglar steal the after-action reports from the Millenium plot?

Duh. Because that is the one and only "success story" the
Klintoon administration even has a hope of fobbing off on the public as evidence of how committed they were---Bubba nevah worked hardah in his life!---to fighting terrorism.

The after-action reports no doubt proved that (1) the Klintoons had nothing to do with foiling the plot, it was all pure luck based on good police work by a frontline border agent, and (2) the reports may have gone further by pointing out the deficiencies in the Klintoon actions prior to the incident, and (3) the reports may have recommended tough future policies that the Klintoons did not want to implement and now do not want to be shown as having ignored.

This is HUGH is the new media will make it so.

IOW, every time these creeps bring up how they foiled the Millenium plot, they need to be hit back hard with (1) the facts re the agent on the ground and (2) with the big question: what did you really know and do and when, and why did you cover it up by Sandy Burglar putting the evidence down his pants?

Only if there was an effort to "intice" someone.

It's the BUT I'm commenting on.

You mean like "yes he should go BUT Hastert (or anybody else) shouldn't be blamed for his misconduct" ?

Why don't we say, "he's gone", pat ourselves on the back, and ask why the Dems would allow Ted Kennedy to chair the Judiciary and Armed Services committees if they should take the Senate?

A quick resignation is often a form of confession.

No, the blogger also has been threatening to out Milkulski. As I said upthread, wow, that would require a brain trust to figure out that she's homosexual!

Enticement is a fairly broad concept. It's fairly raised by these facts. It's pretty clear the trend of the communications was toward eventually getting together, drinking and . . . then what? What might a jury think was going to happen next?

My word...you sound like a child who is in trouble with his mother.

"Billy did it too..."

When I offered up that explanation for my behavior, my mother usually responded in two ways: "I'm not talking about Billy..." or "If Billy told you to jump off a building would you do it?"

Ted Kennedy is in the Senate because the good people of Massachusetts believed his lame ass excuse in 1969 and continue to re-elect him to office.

Thanks for that information. I had only read his blog page where he had the tease on who the senator was that he was about to "out".He had narrowed it down to 33 and I believe all were Republicans. Geez, I've read so much on this and followed so many outside links, it's getting hard for me to keep it all straight.

Did you tell her to give it to you??

I asked her not to read it and the reply was, "oh dear, there's nothing bad in here". Agghhhh. I will pick it up as soon as I can travel to that state! I doubt there really is anything in there but still, who knows what I wrote down? Maybe I said I couldn't stand my parents in there somewhere?

My word...you sound like a child who is in trouble with his mother.

And you sound like you want Billy punished for something you did. What part of "he's gone" are you having trouble with?

More importantly, now that punishment has been meted in Foley's case why don't you want it done in Kennedy's? The "good" people of Massachusetts have nothing do to, btw, with the Swimmer's committee assignments.

Of course they will. As would Republicans. That's what politics has become.

LOL...actually if there IS an entry where you talk about hating your partents would NOT be all that unusual in a teenagers diary, I bet...

BUT, it might teach your Mom a lesson about snooping...LOL

I found my daughter's diary...and a notebook that my son wrote down personal notes..it took every thing I had a the time NOT to look....but, I didn't.

My mother died a couple of years ago..(my Dad died about 25 years ago)...and I was going through a box of old pictures, and birthday cards and just junk that she saved...and I found a letter that I got from a boyfriend when I was 16, and had moved to Texas...

I could not believe SHE had it...and had kept it. There wasn't anything in it...just what he had been doing, and that he missed me, blah, blah. But it sure surprised me...

I think I better go through my boxes in the attic...no telling what my kids would find after I die..yikes???

Filing the full statement under the thread for future reference.

Source Palm Beach Post.com

Statement by Mark Foley's attorney, David Roth

Press conference on Oct 3, 2006 at approx 6:00 PM Eastern.

"Mark explicitly reaffirms his acceptance of responsibility and remorse. He reiterates unequivocally that he has never had sexual contact with a minor. Mark voluntarily entered a substance abuse and mental health facility on Sunday at approximately midnight Sunday Eastern Time.

I was there and he will be there for at least 30 days. This decision was Mark's. As was his decision to resign from the United States House of Representatives. This was a life decision not a tactical one made by others.

Mark does not blame the trauma he sustained as a young adolescent for his totally inappropriate emails and IMs. He continues to offer no excuse whatsoever for his conduct.

As is so often the case with victims of abuse Mark advises that he kept his shame to himself for almost 40 years.

Specifically Mark has asked that you be told that between the ages of 13 and 15 he was molested by a clergyman.

Mark will address this issue further upon his release from treatment.

He very much wanted to release the name of the individual, the church affiliation and other details but was advised by civil counsel to delay that decision pending his completion of treatment after Mark has had an opportunity to consult with him.

Mark has also asked me on his behalf to thank the literally thousands of ordinary citizens as well as friends and others who have conveyed their prayers, love and best wishes to him.

Finally, Mark Foley wants you to know that he is a gay man."
