Alot of freepers are reminding me of democrats when the Clinton scandal broke. Instead of concentrating on what Foley did... they are running around like headless chickens screaming "vast left wing conspiracy" and expending alot of energy spinning conspiracy theories trying to blame the messenger instead of agreeing that Foley was wrong no matter who or how the story was leaked.

Obviously you haven't read much on FR lately or you wouldn't be so blooming uninformed to write such blather.

Wasn't patronizing you, simply giving an informed opinion; I've worked in and around IT, software development, et al for many years.

BOMBSHELL COMING ... I've heard pre-anounced events like this several times over the years and they turn out to be just that, an empty shell. Bombshell event means "I think the turnout for the press conference is going to be meager so say something urgent so to be sure all the media is here."

Didn't he already resign both his office and his candidacy?

Welcome to FR.

Get away now before you get hooked for good! (or five, six, ten years from now you will be part of our big extended family- complete with crazy aunts and uncles up in the attic)!

The easiest way to get IM cache/history files is right off of the computer used to IM. Next would be from the ISP (In this case, AOL) server. Anything's possible, but the firewall and any monitoring software wouldn't be accessable through unsecured logins or areas of the network. Usually only the IT department has access to that.

Doesn't matter---Patches Kennedy went off rehab. Many congresscritters have run and been elected while in jail or whatever.

I would rather... throw up than watch Chris the spitball Matthews.

I agree. I imagine it will be on all three of the cable news channels.

There is some truth to the IM's but they've been embelished, IMO. For example, the quote from the Herald says that their first glimpse of them indicated they were rather tame and could be read nay number of ways.

I went over to abcnews.com and started watching their online videos. I don't recall the last time I watched ABCNBCCBS news. They have one story about Al Franken running for the Senate in 2008. I never thought Al Franken was funny but to hear him seriously speak about running for senate is very very funny.

Almost every story ABC video has bashes Bush or Republicans in some way. I'm beginning to think they are bias or soemthing like that. But it can't be that they are THAT bias because it's not like they have a Democrat operative pretending to be a "journalist" running a Sunday talk show. Now that would be biased....

You'd think Hilary would have better things to do than post on FR, wouldn't you?

This is the most entertaining place on the internet!

Welcome. Now get your butt over to the Freepathon (fundraiser) and pay the piper.

Thanks

My prediction: He lent his screen name to Bill Clinton in 1997 and never got it back...

And what's worse, the underage page's login ID was a pseudonym under which Monica Blewinsky operated during her working (cough) under Der Bent One.

You beat me to it.

It's funny how no one ever watches MSNBC - - they just happen to flip to it. ;)

Matthews irritates the heck out of me but I'm addicted.

No, I don't think that I am missing the point... I can read English, and I have read plenty of threads in the recent days.

What I am suggesting is that we are in danger of making the who leaked it and how it was leaked more important than they shouldn't have been written in the first place.

That being said... love the caps, but you don't need to shout at me... my hearing is fine.

I'm hoping it is something along the lines that his screenname is NOT MAF54.

The difference here is that nobody is defending Foley.

Au contraire.

"These kids were participants not victims."

He didn't touch any of these pages, as far as I have heard, and the age of consent in enlightened Washington DC is 16.

Foley: "I did not have sex with that page." (true) Clinton: "I did not have sex with that intern." (false)

But were these boys minors in DC, since the age limit is 16 there?

ha anyone addressed the fact that the IMs were two-way conversations. Foley was not spamming ex-pages' email accounts. Anyone who did not want to communicate with him simply did not have to answer him.

from the IMs, it sure looks like the page enjoyed it, and admitted he was getting turned on 'a little'.

There's the usual defenses. If not to make him look innocent, at least to ameliorate some of the charges. But of course, it doesn't work. Just because the boy was 16 doesn't make him a minor? What would be saying if Barney Frank had solicited a 16-year-old for sex? Also, the usual "he wanted it" defense and of course, the comparisons to Clinton. Weak defenses to be sure, but they are certainly out there.
