Q: How are the "Lord of the Rings" movies conservative with all those gay hobbits?
A: Keep in mind the striking similarities between Sam and Tony Blair. "Here's this mission that we're going off on. We've got to go do this thing that nobody understands." "OK, I'm with you." So in this analogy, Frodo is George W. Bush, Sam is Tony Blair and Bilbo, conveniently, is George H.W. Bush.
And I maintain that if George H.W. Bush had acted like Bilbo when he actually has that ring for that moment and gets all bug-eyed and crazy, he might have beaten Perot and Clinton.

I would say Braveheart is about the best conservative movie.

Interesting read. I think that this guy might be savable because he lacks one thing that is essential to today's left -- he doesn't hate enough. I think the fact that he is able to relate emotionally with folks in conservative areas will eventually weaken his liberal ideology.

"Lord of the Rings" was none political. That is why I liked it got me away from reality for a few hours.

Sorry Jim but GHW Bush did himself in. His thousand points of light turned a lot of people off. Also, his inability to get on a personal level with the American people like W has been able to do.

conservatives as I understood them are very interested in sacred texts the Bible, the Constitution. These things are locked down One of the few things he said that is right on to me. Does this mean in contrast that the liberals are very interested in texts that are unhinged and unsacred. Boy, it show seems.
So then I thought, what are some of the more friendly towns I've been in? And they were like rural Montana, rural Arizona, these really small places that are really conservative places. OK, where have people been the biggest jerks to me? Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, Los Angeles, safely blue state kind of regions. So it was a little dissonant.
I think this speaks for itself. This is probably dissonant to those that demonize conservatives and Republicans, especially 'all those Bush supporters' that talk continually about murder of the man who protects them hourly as commander in chief. To us conservatives this is a NO BRAINER.
But it's a really powerful thing to just shut up and listen to somebody who has ideas that are different than your own.
We conservatives/Republicans have been listening to these liberals shooting their mouths off for years--mostly unchallenged. Welcome John Moe to us and a slice of our lives--intelligent and powerful people that you and yours relegate to stupid, backward ass, simpleton cardboard cut outs. Nothing could be further from the truth.

I wish there were a way to explore this "ceiling" in the liberal mindset. One can engage them in a discussion as I do on other sites when I go there to engage in the battle of raising them above this ceiling they seem stuck at, and that ceiling is made of lead.
At some point they cannot rise their thinking to a higher level and resort to personal insipid attacks that is embarrassing for them. When I challenge them to go to the next step in "what is the answer to this problem" and they deteriorate the only thing that has a chance of working is using old debate tricks such as, "Because you refuse to answer that issue I must assume this means you think this".
Then their hysteria sets in and my confusion on just what it is that is wrong with their ability to rationalize to the next step frustrates and scares me for them. At times I am so sorry for them. I have found there is some limit, some lack in their basic human make up. Most of it can be attributed to ignorance of current events. I have been accused of lying when revealing a recent event in the news media.
So are liberals merely morons with big mouths and flawed ideas and a lack of knowledge who exhibit rage when someone dares to attempt to challenge them to think on a higher level? I wish a conservative author would do a book on that question.

There was nothing that GHWBush could have done or said to have protected this nation from Clintonism, there were far toooooooo many of US that were totally unaware about the methods of mass deception perfected by these unconscionable liberals.
" I feeeeel your pain" who could have unmasked that mentality????
