You can bet, HCON 487 IH will set off a lot of brush fires with a lot of very powerful people.   How seriously our elected officials take to the risk of losing America's sovereignty still remain to be seen.   HCON 487 IH, a House Resolution is a start.   For sure the issues are very complex, and politically volatile.

I believe all the issues should be out of the shadows, and placed in front of the American constituency, so they in turn can write/contact their elected officials of their thoughts.   No doubt, it will be interesting to follow, and debate here.

Valley target for illegal Chinese immigration
August 29, 2005 — Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents have seen a 3,000 percent increase in the number of Chinese nationals detained here in the past few years.
Although officials declined to provide statistics for undocumented Chinese nationals, figures show that agents operating in the Valley and South Texas detained 49 Chinese nationals in fiscal year 2003.
That number increased in fiscal year 2004 with agents detaining more than 1,483 Chinese nationals since October.
“The Rio Grande Valley area is an established corridor that smugglers use largely due to the geography, population, and an expanded smuggling network on both sides of the border,” said Valley Border Patrol spokesman Roy Cervantes.
Of the five Border Patrol sectors in Texas, the Valley has seen the highest number of Chinese immigrants, with officials in Laredo, Del Rio, El Paso and Marfa reporting rare or small numbers of arrests.
Chinese are No. 5 out of the top five “other than Mexican,” or OTM immigrant apprehensions in the Valley.

China tried to poach supergun inventor
Chinese secret agents have made repeated attempts to poach an Australian scientist behind the invention of a high-speed gun that could revolutionise warfare.
The gun with its electronic firing mechanism, called Metal Storm, was invented by Mike O'Dwyer, who is based in Brisbane.
He claimed this week that Chinese government agents offered him more than $100 million to move to China and work on the gun.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, this is interesting.

You have pointed out that Tancredo has signed the "Resolution" opposing NAFTA highways.

Yet we see that Tancredo has secured federal funding to improve two NAFTA highways in Colorado. First, I25 which is known as the El Camino Real NAFTA highway that originates in El Paso, and second, the Ports to Plains NAFTA highway that originates in Laredo.
