I'm no fan of Bubba, but this isn't the same thing. Pedophilia is a far cry from diddling a chubby intern on the side. Foley should get what he deserves and so should any of his colleagues who knew about this and did nothing. This is not a party issue.

Only by a few months -- Monica Lewinsky was hardly a *worldly-wise* woman, possessed of complete maturity and able to comprehend all the decisions she was making. She participated in a conspiracy to commit perjury, by the admission of Clinton's own Impeachment lawyer, Cheryl Mills.

It is the very same thing, IMMGAHO, older men with power and influence using the same, and their public office, in order to satisfy their baser needs. The gender doesn't matter, it is irrelevent to the subject that Clinton had a girl in his sites and Foley chooses boys. They both took advantage of people who were too young to deal with the ramifications of the whole ... and it is too bad the only thing people are looking at with Foley is the gay aspect and not the preying upon young people with ill intent.

I'm not defending Foley. But I have not heard any allegations that he engaged in sex acts with this boy. He is only accused of sending suggestive e-mails. That may also be a crime. But sending e-mails, even those with suggestive content, is categorically different from actually engaging in sex acts with children (or interns). Engaging in fantasy is a thought crime. Even solicitation of actual acts is a real crime. The facts would appear to be getting lost rather quickly in all this.

For the record, I believe this sudden outing of Foley (whose behavior appears to have been common knowledge) is the Democrat's attempt at a values agenda. And that defense would appear to be a variant of the argument that "everybody does it." The Democrats would like nothing better than to silence Republicans on the values agenda by protraying them as hypocrites. My guess is that if Hastert had forced Foley to resign (as they are now suggesting he should have) the Democrats would be condemning him as a paranoid homophobic bigot.

I agree. "Let the chips fall where they may."

God knows what other perversions are going on in there. Like the creepy Senate where they put their hands all over each other constantly. 'Gives me the heebie-geebies just thinking of it.

I agree with you. I am appalled at the reactions on these threads. I have read some saying that the 'age of consent' is 16!!!???? KONK. I cannot believe any right thinking person could think that there is any justification for this.
