I didn't know that when I made my comment. But my comment was about us rank-n-file folks anyway.

The party leadership is in another "class" (ahem) of its own. I agree with you that waiting to see if Foley nevertheless could make it to election day---if that indeed was Hastert et al's thinking---was wrong and dumb.
