Saying he was "deeply sorry," Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL) resigned from Congress today, hours after ABC News questioned him about sexually explicit internet messages with current and former congressional pages under the age of 18.
A spokesman for Foley, the chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, said the congressman submitted his resignation in a letter late this afternoon to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

somebody close and personal should have said a looooong time ago: "Look, are you a homosexual or not? If so, are you going to push a homosexual agenda? #1 - It was well-known that Foley was gay, though he refused to say either way in public. He had an open relationship with his boyfriend.
#2 - Foley supported "gay rights" legislation
Yet the Republicans in his district kept supporting him and even tried to get him to run for Senate. Shame on them!

I wonder if he'll survive this shame? Literally survive.

. He had an open relationship with his boyfriend."""
But I thought gays weren't interested in young kids? Isn't that what they told those of us who've said that the Catholic child molestation scandal is actuall a GAY scandal?

Is Studds still in Congress? He didn't resign, did he? Was that because he was a Democrat? And Barney Frank, shouldn't he have to resign, too? At least Republicans force their bad apples out.

But I thought gays weren't interested in young kids? Isn't that what they told those of us who've said that the Catholic child molestation scandal is actuall a GAY scandal? To be fair, mostly gay are the ones molesting teenage kids rather than adolescents, etc. See, doesn't that make it better?

I wonder if he'll survive this shame? Literally survive. Are you suggesting Foley be lynched?
I can certainly understand that feeling, though I'm not a proponent of vigilante justice ....

I guess politicians have no shame these days, which is truly pathetic.

No, I'm sugesting he might off himself.

How? Just as easily as they let him run as a Republican in the first place. So much for the house. Perhaps it needed a good cleaning anyway.

Yes, I know. He is pretending to be a conservative and he is not, he also pretends to be a Christian and he's not that either. I used to be in the same camp of people who thought that Mormons had such a squeaky clean image, very family oriented and even if they kept pretty much to themselves, were OK.
Then my daughter married one, I was not permitted to see my first born's wedding, it was held in secret in the Temple and of coursse non-Mormons can foot the bills but not view the wedding.
After spending years trying to cope, I did some research on what Mormonism really is and it is shocking. Anyone who votes for Romney thinking as I thought (especially any committed Christian, which I am now) has bought into a pack of lies.

More importantly, thanks to Florida election law, the district (barely for Bush in '04) is now lost. So we'll need to focus like a laser on the seats we can win, not on this idiot's zipper problem.

No, I'm sugesting he might off himself.Keeping my fingers crossed, personally.
The fact that a man this STUPID would be in a position of authority over ME is so f**king galling.

My God, this creep was head of the caucus on Missing and Exploited Children?
Co-Chairman, at least that's what I heard on TV.
Sounds like the fox guarding the henhouse.
Good riddance to him.
I hope authorities responded quickly enough and secured the computers
and other gear that might been used in his sick little game.

Why is this man (in congress?) on a committe where the issues are exploited
children? What is wrong with people like this? And
Nice cover.
And to deflect suspicion.
Thank goodness it didn't work for him.
Too bad it didn't get discovered earlier so that he'd never gotten into office.
