The GOP House Whip was just on television saying he wished Foley "the very best." No expression of dismay or outrage or concern for the young innocents who may have been molested, but the Whip is wishing the perp abuser the best! Get OUT!
That is at best weird.
I wouldn't call 16-year-olds "young innocents." They may have been led astray, but doubt that they didn't know what was going on. Also, you're assuming physical contact, there may not have been any...it may have all been "cyber sex."
Damn good question.

Yeah, who do they REALLY care about? It's a cushy little insider club. Recall that earlier this year, when the Feds raided the office of the corrupt Dem LA rep, Dennis Hastert ran to his defense? Shame on them..
What the hell is he suppose to do? Wish him the worst? Maybe if he were found guilty of something, I might even agree if he were indicted.
But just because he resigned, you think that he should accept every accusation as truth and wish him a long time in the slammer?
Rediculous. I think the allegations ARE true, but nobody knows for sure yet, and he shouldn't assume otherwise. He did the absolutely proper thing for the situation and I complement him on it.
According to Nightline, they've know for quite a while; they had a guy on who use to be a page and he said that when they first came in to training, they were WARNED about Foley.
This is going to be ugly.
OK, honestly now, why would you believe a Nightline report? And you don't think a former page might come out and make a bad situation even worse by embellishing the story about what the republicans knew especially if he's getting asttention and love from the media?
It's going to be ugly if we assume that everything the media says about this is true. I'm not willing to give the media that level of trust, especially when it comes to the "What did they know and when did they know it" kind of charge. It's easy to see why the media would find people to lie about that aspect of it, even if the sexual allegations are entirely true.
Congressman talking dirty to a teenager? Scandal, but nothing they can pin on the Repubs in general. Other Congressmen knowing about it and doing nothing? Huge election-deciding scandal so juicy that people would lie about it just to make it more damning. That's exactly why we of all people should not jump to conclusions when the Republicans haven't even had a chance to speak on this yet.
