Why does every business decision have to be politically calculated? How about not shopping there because their stuff is garbage, the employees are incompetent, and management is rude? That's been my Wal-Mart experience and my reasons for not shopping there.
"How about not shopping there because their stuff is garbage, the employees are incompetent, and management is rude? "
Because none of that is true?
There stuff is garbage? I can buy a B&D cordless drill at WM for about 15-20 less then I can get it anywhere else. Is this drill any less quality then the identical one bought at Sears? I can name you many many items from TV sets to food that are less at WM. As for the employees, I don't condone rudeness but then I seldom need an employee in any store save to point their finger in the direction of the product I want to purchase. I do not socialize with WM employees in any way and all I need them to do is open the door at the correct time and have the lights on and the cash registers manned so I can make my purchase, save money and be on my way.
People who rant against WM remind me of an acquaintance who refused to shop at a certain discount store in the area that specialized in selling merchandise purchased from bankrupt companies. He would come up with dumbest reasons imaginable but the bottom line was he felt he would somehow demean himself by shopping in (in his mind) a low class place like that where he had to walk among what I'm sure he considered the riff raff (bargain seekers). This guy drove a truck for a living.
I think the issue is the clout Wal-Mart has in promoting Same-gender marriage which is an mockery.
Guess more Same-gender shop at Wal-Mart then straights!:)
I also agree that their stuff is garbage. At least some of it. While some of the people are nice, I've come across more incompetent employees. So, after I found I didn't like WM from experience, I learned more about it. Some things I like, others I don't. In general, I stay away. But sometimes I shop there because I can't find what I need anywhere else or without running around everywhere.
I won't say all 3 things are present all of the time, but when I lived in Lakeland, FL, and one referred to "the great unwashed" with Wal-Mart, it was not necessarily the customers. Friend of mine said she couldn't tell customers from employees.
One of my particular peeves was younger women of a certain ethnic persuasion being consistently surly. Like you were interrupting something important they were doing when you wanted to get rung out at their register.
One of my non-favorite women working there had 8 studs in her ear, 1 1/2" black finger nails, tattoos on both arms and legs and was very creepy. I refused to use her register, gave me the heebees to get near her.
