I was not aware of that. Do you have references supporting your claim regarding the motives of the original author(s) of the theory of evolution?

It is a logical consequence of the claims of the author. If it is indeed as he describes it, "first and foremost a weapon against religion" then that would be the primary motive of the author in constructing it. The author's basis for making such an implicit claim remains unknown.
