Maybe the copying artist wanted it to have brighter colors.

They apparently believe that one picture can't replace 10,000 words.
To: John Valentine
LOL! I suspect they're keeping it hidden from view until the debut.

An article about a picture no one has seen and a photo of a painting everyone has memorized since they were 8 years old. Huh..????

An early copy of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, which has bright colours believed to reflect the original painting, will go on display in London for the first time since 1902.Does she have eyebrows?

LOLOL! Glad I swallowed that last gulp of coffee, or I'd have a mess here!

"Maybe the copying artist wanted it to have brighter colors." More likely that centuries of aging, oxidation, and exposure to soot from non-electric light sources have dulled the original colors to what we see today.

"Heck. No pic of the copy at the linked article."
There was a picture at the linked article, but it was at an angle and almost impossible to see the details they discussed, so it wasn't even worth reproducing here.
Besides, everyone is having so much fun with their own "Leonardo" copy.
To: Republicanprofessor
I strained to see that one, but gave up.

And the picture in the article was of the original Mona Lisa, not the copy the article is about.
