James Bond carried a Walther PPK, which fires the .380 Auto.

I thought the only reason they went with 9mm to begin with was because it was the standard NATO sidearm and would've eased logistics for combined operations against the ruskies.
To: Disambiguator
I went on record criticizing the .380 as a defense round on another thread the other day. The responses were interesting. Some agreed, one disagreed.I carry a .380 PPK most of the time, but I understand why the caliber isn't great for primary defense. I carry it because it's been reliable, I'm accurate with it, and it's easily concealable...If I ever need to use it I'm confident that I'll hit what I'm aiming at. That said, if I had my druthers (and the money) I'd have a nice compact .40 for concealed carry.

Actually, "M" chewed out Bond and commanded that he turn in his Beretta for the PPK in the begining of "Dr. No." Bond even tried to walk out of "M"'s office with both pistols after the meeting. "M" ordered Bond to leave the Beretta on his desk before he left.

The Russians use a 9mm Makarov which is a different caliber than 9 mm parabellum

I hope you are right. Replacing the .45 ACP with the 9mm was fixing a problem that didn't exist.I believe there was a problem with certain soldiers of the feminine persuasion having a problem pulling the trigger on the .45 or that was one of the stories going around at the time to it's replacement.

I figured those were the ones you were talking about, quite a few people don't actually know though.

Load W-231 at 7.2gr behind a 135gr XTP. Chrono's at 1720fps out of a full sized Witness (4.5"). Or, load 6.2gr of W-231 behind a 200gr FMJ and you can split bowling pins at 25yrds. I haven't started showing over-pressure signs yet with mine either, although I did need a 22# spring to keep it from tossing my brass 40'.
The 10mm is as versatile a round as the .357/.38 is. The .40S&W cannot compare in any "real world" sense.

14 rounds of .45 ACP in a fairly compact package, and American made ... I haven't shot one yet, but there are favorable reviews all over the Web.

The Russians use a 9mm Makarov which is a different caliber than 9 mm parabellum 9X18 (Makarov) vs 9X19(Parabellum) is not THAT different. I'm not sure I'd want to try and use the ammunition interchangeably though.
I'll stick with my old standby. .45 Colt revolver.

I believe Bond carried a .32 with a skeleton grip ... not much more stopping power especially when fitted with a suppressor

A Makarov round will not fire in a 9mm parabellum(.355) A 9mm parabellum will fire in a Makarov(.365).

First run of mags for those things had feeding issues. People sent the mags back in and Springfield sent them new mags that work flawlessly.
Been looking into a two-tone version for my wife.
