Bin Laden has more than likely been dead for a long time. It makes no sense for him to be a loud mouth Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson type with threats and then just stop with little output from him all at once. Bin Laden, alive, would know the value of sending out radio messages and videos (more often than what is being sent out now) to the insurgents in Iraq and the world. Its a no brainer that he could do this(send out messages) with impunity and not have to worry about the CIA or the Intelligence community.

First off, you might be right. Bin Laden could have been dead for a long time.

OTOH, the NSA rules the electromagnetic spectrum. OBL can never be sure that we aren't listening, tracing & targeting. So like a Mafia Don he operates strictly thru face-to-faces with intermediaries. Periodically we nail one of his assistants when they communicate electronically.
