There have always been large numbers of people who thought the end was near. I suspect they have a problem accepting the fact that the world will go on after they die.

There's also an egotistical desire to believe there is something absolutely unique about the time one lives in, I think.

I wonder how that compares with the snooty, haughty egotistical desire to look down one's nose at those who believe that the overwhelming evidence is UNIQUELY evident in this era compared to all others of the last 2,000 years.

That at best, other eras might have had 2-4 factors in the critical direction while this era has 100's of data points indicating that we are indeed in the 'last days.'
