RANGEL: AN ATTACK ON BUSH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL AMERICANS... 'You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, but do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State'...
A DU sampling ... enjoy. I love an implosion. ;)
Rangel's Attack on Chavez, is proof US is doomed- freedom of
speech?
HOW DARE someone come into the 'land of the free' and speak their mind????
I'm glad someone has the courage to do so- Chavez has no $ to lose by being honest about how he feels.
What a sorry place we have become America.
We can dish it out but we sure as .... can't handle it when it comes back to us.

Rangel traidor?
Edited on Thu Sep-21-06 01:28 PM by El Zopilote
What is U.S. Congressman Charles Rangél doing? Is he betraying the Democratic Party? He's bashing Hugo Chavez and defending Bush. It is very disturbing and alarming to see a Democrat, especially a monority, to critize an international Hispanic leader and ally by expressing sympathy for Bush and his racist Republicans. Has Mr. Rangél gone loco? Has he turned into a rogue Democrat? Is he a traitor? Hopefully Mr. Rangél has an ulterior motive. But as Democrats we must be careful not to create the slightest impression that our strong united coalition has a crack in it. I consider all minorities (African-Americans, Hispanics of course, Muslims, American Indians and all to be my brothers in the cause of solidarity). We must remain united. Solidarity is the key to victory. We do not need dissent.

So, Nancy, done anything to get cheap fuel to the poor?
How is calling a head of state a "thug" any different from calling a head of state "the devil"?
It's all right for us to call names but not those inferior countries?
Does she actually disagree with Chavez' assessment? Or is she being a political hypocrite?

Pelosi sucks up to corporate America just like Dumbya
What the.....?
The Dems must have polling data no one has seen yet....
Don't be fooled. This is nothing more than an attempt to stop the Democrat backlash bleeding. Sane Americans are greatly offended by Chavez and Ahmadmanjerk. And since there isn't a dime's worth of difference in the Democrat's relentless Bush bashing and these crude terrorist dictators, Rangel and Pelosi are defending Bush ONLY BECAUSE OF POLITICS. It is a very transparent attempt at appearing they are loyal Americans, which is the biggest joke of all.
And yes, Pelosi is facing re-election. All members in the House of Representatives have two year terms.
They're busy demonstrating the "new tone," taking the high road and showing us how adults act.
Or something.
Me, I'm just grateful to Pelosi and Rangel for standing up to Chavez. They deserve our commendation for that.
Sure, trhis is disingenuous. But I am glad they did the right thing and said it. Good for them.
The Commies are eating their own!
I would have preferred, "This whole UN thing is not working. We announce a pullout and funding ceases this year. In addition New Yorkers will get their parking spaces back since we demand that the UN vacate turtle bay in the next year. We will help you find the next UN headquarter site somewhere in the tolerant Muslim countries...Oh and by the way, one more comment from these little banana republic dictators and we will light you up."
He made hiimself an enemy of the US. Let's ablige him.
Rush was just talking about your very viewpoint. I agree. Also -
1. The Dems have been ridiculously ripping the President for years but
2. When Chavez did it he looked like a childish radical nutjob with no skills in diplomacy or decency so
3. The Dems are trying to distance themselves because they don't want to topple over the loony ledge with him on criticizing Bush. In other words, you're absolutely right - Rangel is trying to save himself politically.
I'd love to consider this as a case of "I can criticize my family but no one else can" but I really, really doubt it.
The Dims have seen the poll numbers and don't want to be left on the beach when the boat leaves.
A 180 degree change in course for the socialists: they finally figured out that most American voters do not side with our enemies. Brilliant, eh?
That's proof Pelosi and Rangel did the right thing.
Rangel and Pelosi are empty suits. They stick their fingers in the air, find out which way the political wind is blowing and then say anything they think will be politically expedient. Both are in CYA mode.
But, it's okay when Carter goes abroad and criticizes the Pres. Everybody wants to hear what Americans think of everything, but Americans don't care to hear what anybody thinks of American stuff. Simple rules for a simple planet.
I've always thought that the minute Dems realize that they could win by appearing united FOR our country rather than the usual blame America first stuff, it would be then that they could win. I hope they don't go too far w/this!
Even dimwit Charlie Rangel knows the AMERICAN people don't like this thug calling our President a devil.....wow....even the thick are getting it!!
He's the kind of slick politician smart enough to encapsulate himself in soundbytes. Rangel isn't defending President Bush. He's never once defended this president in Bush's 5 years in office.
