RANGEL: AN ATTACK ON BUSH IS AN ATTACK ON ALL AMERICANS... 'You do not come into my country, my congressional district, and you do not condemn my president. If there is any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not. I just want to make it abundantly clear to Hugo Chavez or any other president, but do not come to the United States and think because we have problems with our president that any foreigner can come to our country and not think that Americans do not feel offended when you offend our Chief of State'...
Lets give Rangel credit for having balls.

Which is worse - making Bush look a little better or making yourself look anti-American? I think the polls showed the Americans were perturbed at some foreigner (speaking Spanish) coming in and shooting his mouth off about Bush. Chavez and the UN did Bush a favor. Bush keeping quiet and opening up opportunity for his critics to defend him isn't seeming totally dumb after all. He's a sympathetic character.
Big problem is the silent Republicans. It's deafening.

I think they are hoping this will all work out in their favor and so, they won't speak out, don't want it to stop.
At least that's the only freeking lame excuse I can think of that our DC 'leadership' would allow this hatefilled, tag team charade against our country to continue on our soil. Doesn't matter what WE think, if it gets votes.

They are trying desperately to disassociate themselves from an obviously crazy dictator.

I think Rangel gets it wrong. The issue is not that he was critical, but that he called him the devil.
They (the dems) could not afford not to condemn Hugeo, it really would have cost them the elections but this fat loser was spouting many talking points of the loony left almost word for word.

The Democrats have given talking points to the terrorists and thugs of the world, and now when their poll numbers are dropping, they get indignant! Sheesh!!!
It's a PR stunt. They know the Chavez and the Iranian Nutcase backlash is not helping the Dems chances in November.

Actually, its astute as to how most folks think. You can't yell at my child, but I can. Rangel is right. Not on our soil, Pineapplehead.
Rangel is a smart old pol --- he slammed Bush, but made himself look the part of a patriot and hero.
