Would he have been convicted for splattering a mouse with a trap? For swatting a mosquito? For eating an oyster? For crushing nematodes unwittingly under heel?

The aforementioned creatures are not normally considered to be Companion Animals. Dogs and Cats are.

Some people keep hamsters, some fish. There are beekeepers and people who like snakes. Some adore their birds.

So was the punishment for killing a cat, or for killing someone's pet, or for destroying someone's property?
