Religious theory should be taught in religion class.
I think students should be exposed to alternative economic models as well. Equal time for multi-level marketing! "Now, children, please open up your notebooks - we're going to draw some circles..."
They should teach the Flood, too, along with the geologic column, and the Parting of the Red Sea along with Global Warming.
Ok, actually, I DO think it should be given an amount of time in science class, worthy of its contribution to science. That would be about 3 minutes, at the begining of Evolutionary theory class, which itself should run about 20 hours or so. A simple statement like "Intelligent Design is the idea that, a higher power or being created the Universe, earth, and all the life encountered on it." That didn't take long. Class dismissed.
Behe, Dembski,....ummm lets see.....
Did I mention Behe?
Nutcase.
that many scientists are one scientist is now suggesting is a very viable alternative theory
Looks like another case of a Republican competing for the Darwin Political Award.
Watch the party go down the drain.
Teach that God has ear hair. After all, I am made in his image.
Teach that the world is 6,000 years old, and that all that carbon dating stuff is a plot by the devil.
Teach that fossils are planted there by god, as a test of faith.
What a bunch of nutjobs.
All he proposing is a discussion about ID theory.
As usual the atheists, liberal kooks are up in arms over this, overreacting as usual.
Those who do not want creationism taught in our schools are definitely AFRAID OF SOMETHING!
What an idiot.
Did DeVos forget to take his brain medicine? Does he have a side bet on a Granholm victory?
If this were true, scientists would know it and people outside of science like Mr. DeVos wouldn't have to lobby for the change to science classes. School textbooks would already have chapters on "The Controversy" if the controversy was ongoing within science.
None of it is true, and there's no excuse for Mr. DeVos to be this ignorant--if that's his problem--at this stage of things. "The Controversy" that we're supposed to teach is being whipped up by creationists like the Dover, PA school board that took a whipping in court recently and famously. Somebody needs to get the word to Mr. DeVos.

Why doesn't DeVos worry about the economic health of Michigan? Honestly, this is a textbook example on why DeVos may LOSE. Michigan workers don't give a crap about evolution, intelligent design, people born from pond scum or nuclear reaction, who cares? DeVos has already spent millions in this race and isn't even leading in most polls.
DeVos's ties to Amway highlights an important issue about the anti-evolution activists, whether ID-ists or Christian or Muslim creationists. Namely, how much is attributable to ignorance of science, and how much is conscious fraud and deception?
Has Vern Ehlers weighed in on this yet?
