Pat Buchanan: Impeach Bush over illegal aliens
WorldNetDaily ^ | September 17, 2006

Posted on 09/19/2006 5:51:57 PM PDT by NapkinUser

Republican calls president 'derelict' in duty: 'This is not Ellis Island, this is an invasion'

Author Pat Buchanan says President Bush should be impeached for failing to stop the invasion of illegal aliens across the U.S. border with Mexico.

"I think he's committed an impeachable offense in refusing to enforce the immigration laws and in failing to uphold the Constitution by defending the states against this invasion," Buchanan told radio talk-show host Curt Smith this weekend on National Public Radio stations in upstate New York.

"When you have 6 million people apprehended on the border and several million got in on your watch – and you have the ability to stop it – I think you're derelict in your duty," he said. "And if the president says 'I can't do it,' you need a new president who will do it."

"This is not Ellis Island," said Buchanan. "This is an invasion."

Buchanan, who is a WND columnist, is the author of the best-selling book, "State of Emergency: The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America." The book paints a dim portrait of America's future: "The children born in 2006 will witness in their lifetimes the death of the West."

"As Rome passed away, so, the West is passing away, from the same causes and in much the same way. What the Danube and Rhine were to Rome, the Rio Grande and Mediterranean are to America and Europe, the frontiers of a civilization no longer defended."

Buchanan follows Rep. Tom Tancredo's warning shot, "In Mortal Danger," with some sobering statistics and new ways to consider the crisis. He states:

One in every twelve people breaking into America has a criminal record.
By 2050, there will be 100 million Hispanics
concentrated in the U.S. Southwest.
Between 10 and 20 percent of all Mexicans, Central Americans and people of the Caribbean have already moved to the United States.
Every month, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehends more illegal aliens breaking into our country, 150,000, than the number of troops we have in Iraq.

"Concerned about his legacy, George W. Bush may yet live to see his name entered into the history of his country as the president who lost the American Southwest that James K. Polk won for the United States," Buchanan writes.

In addition to charging the Mexican government with plotting territorial reconquest, the former presidential candidate also says elites in Mexico and the U.S. are conspiring to erase America's borders and merge the United States and Mexico into a "North American Union."

To avert disaster, Buchanan's recipe includes:

A deportation program, beginning with all illegal aliens convicted of felonies and every gang member not a U.S. citizen.
A 10-year limit on legal immigration to between 150,000 and 250,000.
Building a security fence along the 2,000-mile border.

Buchanan points out that the illegal alien population of the U.S. today exceeds the total number of Irish, Jewish and British immigrants who ever came to the U.S.

He disputes those who contend illegal immigration has economic benefits for the U.S., saying instead the trend represents a massive drain on the economy.

While I would generally agree with your rules of etiquette, I don't think you understand the level of bile that has been directed at me personally for over six years by one certain small group of people here. They're few, but they're loud and persistent. And it isn't like their abuse is only directed at me.

Now, now, please don't go overboard.

I think that you should be apprised of the fact that flattery has never gotten anyone anywhere with me.

What he is saying here does makes much sense. The President and the Congress have been asleep at the wheel since 9-122 in not making strict border protection a huge priority.

Look, I'm reading this thread and I see a lot of disruption of the discussion on the issue. Is it better to add to that disruption and get kicked off the board or is it better to ignore the personal stuff and stick to the issues that you disagree with them on and slam dunk the logic and reasoning for your opinion on the issue in their face? Make them stick to the issue by coming back at them with the issue. If they are liberals then they will just run off crying because they can't answer you with logic and facts and you make them look stupid without personally attacking them.

I've done so for years. Logic or reason mean nothing to them.

I disagree with how the current administration has handled immigration and the border, but it's just ridiculous to say the President is guilty of treason. That is just adding fuel to the liberal's bonfire.

Now, now ........ you must be apprised that no one here is trying to "get anywhere" with you.

;-)

I was just honestly suggesting that those succinct, heartfelt/AMERICAN, and incredibly correct and upright remarks of yours deserve to be on a ......... let's say, a thread dedicated to Free Republic's greatest and most meaningful posts.

That would be a thread I would like to see someday.

p.s. Here's another great one by Lazamataz (his brilliant history of FR)

Take care and please be well up there in beautiful Connecticut. When do your leaves begin changing?

The FR thought police have arrived! You showed him for not towing the party line! Onward noble Bushbot.

You would be surprised at how many people feel the same way. The illegals are laughing at us and I would hate to see what happens if the law falls apart due to a terror strike.

"The terrorist who killed almost 3,000 on 9/11 did NOT get into the USA over the Mexican border."

They did, however, violate immigration law. Immigration laws that are not better enforced now than pre-9/11. In fact, we apparently are importing more Saudis to take flight training. BTW, there are an increaing number of Muslims entering our southern border.

"Our borders ARE being watched by the border patrol."

So THAT's why millions get through and all those OTMs were released back into our population, why worksite enforcement dropped an order of magnitude from the pathetic performance of Clinton's administration.....

"The illegals are laughing at us"

Why wouldn't they. Our government works for them and makes us pay for them. US citizens and legal immigrants are being played for fools.

9/11 is not the reason we are taking our southern border more seriously. The reason we are is the 'old switcheroo'.

We have 'bad' Islamists invading the world, including the US, and we make hard working Christian Mexicans THE priority problem?

Instead of hunting down Mexican illegals we should concentrate on down hunting Islamists. Especially their Stateside teachers.

We know who the enemy is, and they are not from Mexico.

Pat always did make people stop and think.

If Miers would have become a Supreme Court judge, I would join Pat on this.

"Pat always did make people stop and think."

Yep. When I see someone writing column after column defending our Islamic enemies I stop and think that pat's damned lucky to be alive today. A hundred years ago he would have been burned out by now.

Oh yes you are...you're trying to get on my "good side".

Thanks for your kind words, but I was just trying to explain to someone where I am coming from. This is how I was raised, how I raised my kiddo, and how she is raising her kiddo. My statements don't belong on FR's home page, as you stated, nor as a thread header; they're just my unchanged and unchangeable feelings.

Laz's HISTORY OF FR is a good read.

The leaves have just begun to change and it looks like we'll have a great season for the peepers.

Jim has posted, several times, that the word "Bushbot" is not to be used; especially not in a pejorative way. You don't like it? Take it up with the owner of this site.

I think pat's getting overly optimistic. From another story:

"Germany's far-Right is set to increase its power base in state elections this weekend, securing a historic foothold in a regional parliament for the third time in two years. The leading candidates for the National Democratic Party (NPD), Germany's oldest neo-Nazi party, have swapped their skinheads and combat boots for smart suits and gelled hair, in their attempt to attract a wider vote by shedding their thug-like image."

pat's probably sitting in his den, chugging some booze and humming is favorite broadway tune: "Springtime for Hilter and Germany..."
