I was moved and had tears well up in my eyes whenever I saw Terri and the kids and when Steve's mate Wes spoke, but I totally lost it when they loaded up the truck for his final adventure. :(

I had listened to it on Australian radio right before I watched on Animal Planet and the loading of the truck really got to me too.

Poor Terri looks like she is hurting so much, poor lady.

"...the bottom line is that Steve Irwin's eternity is between him and his Creator, and that doesn't diminish my hopes of one day seeing him again when "all things have passed away, and all things have become new".

You said it well. I would rather know the truth than believe something which I want to be true. To know that Terri is a churchgoing Christian gives me hope that Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Thanks for the cautionary link. I'm hoping he did know Jesus as his Savior.

You're welcome. It is my hope also. See post #284.

My 7-year old son said that he wished he had a time machine so he could go back in time and warn Steve not to go swimming with the stingray. Crikey! He just finished a drawing on the computer but he was extremely upset because the croc came out yellow....we're low on ink. Oops.

"Walters said she was "thrilled." I think "honored" would have been a more appropriate word."

That was my thought as well; however, since when has the media made propriety a matter of concern?

I definitely want a ping for that one.

I don't know it to be 100% true either, but I read in a secular article that he told John Stainton that this past month had been "the happiest month of my life". The article attributed it to his continued success, but if it was true about him becoming a Christian, I think I know why it was the happiest.

Thanks for the ping to this, mom4kittys, I had just gotten home from work and checked FR for the latest. So glad I got to see it, still watching the show after the memorial ;-)

"I wish I could live my life with half the enthusiasm that Steve showed."

Isn't that the truth?

"I can't believe how composed she was and so obviously proud of her father."

I remember reading somewhere shortly after his death that Bindi was a rock for Terri. She is her daddy's child; no doubt of that.

"Steve's daughter Bindi will have her own show in 20 years."

I don't think it will take anywhere near that long.

I'm now going to pay my respect to Steve Irwin's memory by watching Tommy Emmanuel's version of the song "Waltzing Matilda" by Banjo Patterson.

The last lines are:

...And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me
Waltzing Matilda Waltzing Matilda
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

Miss you, Steve. You were the real deal.

"We should all be so blessed to live lives where our actions touch the souls of strangers."

Steve was surely a light in a world consumed with so much evil in these times. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone who embraced life so completely.

Steve said they were soul mates. I find it hard to believe that two people could be so in tune with one another and not share a common faith. Regardless of whether or not the conversion story is true, my heart tells me he knows the Lord.
