"Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus, who said everything the Prophet Mohammad brought was evil "such as is command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

The person who made the statement should make the apology for it. Oh, he's not around? Well, I guess the muzzies are SOL.

Today, its considered in bad taste to be too candid. If you lie, that's considered normal. People were shocked when the Pope did something that's viewed as out of fashion in "enlightened circles." I never thought people should apologize for telling the truth.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
