Yes, it's troubling that the reporter would ask the question to begin with. They were no doubt trying to play on any anti-semitic feelings that anyone in the audience may have had. But *if* this story is relayed accurately, Allen considered it an aspersion, which is also troubling (accent on "if").

Given the way he lost his cool with that Webb aide, and now this, I have to agree that he may not be Presidential material.

Here's your presidential material, sycopant:

"I love this quote. It's from Mahatma Ghandi. He ran a gas station down in, uh, St. Louis for a couple of years. Mr. Ghandi, you gonna still go to the gas station? A lot of wisdom comes out of that gas station..."

It's the WaPo, so any pretense of accuracy is wishful thinking.

My GUESS is that the attempted "aspersion" was the Alen was hiding his Jewish heritage, and the purpose of the aspersion was to defang the accurate accusation that Kerry was claiming an Irish background rather than the real deal.

Even the WaPO isn't ready, IMHO, to make "Jewish Blood" a put down. But newsies are ALWAYS campaigning for the DIMS, and if they could respond, "Well, What about Allen hiding HIS background?" whenever Kerry's lies are brought up, they'd ocnsider that a good thing.

While I'm guessing, I'd suggest that the newsies will now claim, on the basis of the question and Allen's response, that "everyone knows" that George is ashamed of his background and is therefore a hypocritical Republican (which to them is a redundancy) and a self-hating Jew.

In related news, the military continues to hold a newsie for collaborating with the enemy. The newsies think there needs to be a trial. I think that if the guy has a press card, that would constitute dispositive and conclusive evidence that he was an enemy collaborator -- which is probably why I haven't been asked to be a judge anywhere lately.

You should watch the video of the Webb aide. Allen didn't lose his cool. He was pointing him out so he could comment that Webb wasn't able to tour SW VA because Webb was in california meeting with the hollywood liberals.

So Webb had to send someone to film him.

Allen screwed up because Allen did NOT do his homework, his staff did not do their homework, so Allen realised he didn't know the kid's name, and he "made one up" (actually, I believe his campaign had been calling the kid names, and Allen just used one. A major blunder, but not an attack on the guy).
