Syria's mufti calls for holding Islamic-Christian summit over Pabal remarks

DAMASCUS, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Syria's Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr Hassoun on Saturday called for holding a Christian-Muslim religious summit in order to face up to attempts at igniting a religious war between Christians and Muslims.

Hassoun, in a statement issued by his office, accused some Western and Zionist public figures of preparing the ground for a war between Christianity and Islam.

He called on Ulamas and religious authorities to "act cautiously and realize that a third party is trying to ignite a war in order to turn international attention away from the Palestinian and Iraqi issues" and to flare-up a religious war after it was gossiped that a war of civilizations was being prepared.

Hassoun said that only a spiritual summit could stand against such a threatening current and urged those who deliver religious sermons to beware that the entire area was at a "boiling point".

He called for not turning the media into channels for exchanging insults.

He said he was personally satisfied with the explanations provided by the Vatican in this connection. "But more explanations could be useful in other parts of the Muslim world" to prevent more strife, he said. He indirectly accused Zionism of trying to spread the seeds of discord between Islam and Christianity. (end) tk. eh

Is Syria's mufti of the opinion that there is not already a war between Christians and Muslims?

Iran called it a conspiracy by the West and Zionists first. Syria follows.

LOL! The Media never has allowed the exchange of insults muffy. Islam can speak it's mind, but the USA and Christians everywhere are supposed to STFU.. Yeah, I know what you meant...

Let me get this straight, he's calling a Christian - Islamic summit to blaim Christians of incitement? Do I understand this correctly or did I miss something?

The Mufti and his followers are sick but to advance the Muslim theology, as is with all the major religions, they must keep the religious base poor. Prosperous people do not not need religion as their entire life.

Now Muslims want to kill the Pope, last month it was the cartoonist, whip the masses into a freeze over nothing, but the Muslims have nothing but to live for except Jihad.

Wake up Americans.

I'm calling for holding a worldwide summit over the Muslim problem. What are we going to do about them?

Yes He knows exactly what he is doing:

"...In 2004, she (Oriana Fallaci) wrote The Force of Reason, out this month in English from Rizzoli. It also sold 1 million copies in Italy. In it, she argues that the fall of the West has commenced due to radical Islam. Western-style democracy, with its liberty, human rights, freedom of thought and religion, cannot coexist with radical Islam. One of them has to perish. She puts her money on the West failing.

...Ms Fallaci's writings have also, of course, won her many opportunities. I'd like to mention one: that she was among the first persons invited by Pope Benedict XVI for a chat, an encounter all the more significant for her being publicly declared an atheist. Before their meeting, this is what Ms Fallaci had to say about the new pope:

I feel less alone when I read the books of Ratzinger I am an atheist, and if an atheist and a pope think the same things, there must be something true. It's that simple! There must be some human truth here that is beyond religion."

I hope you're right. I'd hate to see the Holy Father cave in to these murderous barbarians.
