Islam is a violent, backward looking religion. It isn't Christianity that needs to change.

Here's an idea! Someone should create a cartoon with the pope wiping his arse with pages from the Koran? Maybe they will blow a gasket? You think?

Message to the Pope: please don't "dhimminish" your remarks.

All of this response just proves the pope's point. Spreading violence and hatred...it's what they do. Once in a while they use an excuse like this.
They probably have no idea what the pope said.

A violent reaction to the Pontiff's truthful comments.

How novel.

The Pope should have paraphrased that Klingon fellow on the Trouble with Tribbles by saying: "I didn't mean to say Islam IS garbage, I meant to say Islam should be hauled away AS garbage."

Here's the hilarious money quote of the day, from Ynetnews:

The spiritual leader of Lebanon's Sunnis, the Grand Mufti Sheik Mohammed Rashid Kabbani, said the pope's remarks emanated either from "Ignorance and lack of knowledge or were deliberately intended to distort Islam."

"Reason is the substance of Islam and its teachings ... Islam prohibited violence in human life. Anyone who wants the truth (about Islam) must take it from Islam's holy book, the Koran, rather than from a dialogue or excerpts," he said.

Better double the Swiss guard and find the old flags. The war with Islam might just enter into a new stage.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
-- Manuel II Paleologus, as quoted by Pope Benedict XVI
