No matter that the Pope simply quoted an earlier source, it is a fundamental (and accurate) criticism of Islam. No other major religion converts at the point of a sword.
Christianity is evangelical in its very nature, but God metes out punishment for non-believers, not man.
The Pope owes no one an apology. He should be free to discuss issues of theology and Catholic belief without any outside pressure.

They don't firebomb the homes of trolls, though. Do they?I have no idea.
I don't keep track of "trolls." I'm not into the insult mode, since ad hominem isn't supposed to be allowed here.
But, perhaps you know more about the subject that I do.

Plenty of prominent British catholics, even after Henry croaked. No, this is just the snooty pinko anti-christian BBC crowd that hates Anglican vicars as much as Roman Catholics.Well put.
BBC annoys me SO much. I would rather watch the news in any other foreign language than watch it on BBC.
With the latest remarks of His Holiness, there might just be a few more Catholics in Jolly Ole.

Why should the Pope apologize? In a rare "spazimadoic" , a religious icon actually abandoned political correctness and stated the truth. Keep it comimg Popester!
I think the pope understands the rise of Islamofascism, as a German national, and it's parallel to the rise of European fascism in the 1930s.Then the pope remained silent, when he could have cut much of fascism in the early days of its development. Now the Pope speaks out.

Why apologize for speaking the TRUTH?
The Pope owes the Muslim population nothing, zero, nada.
What I would like to see is state leaders castigating and condemning those Islamists who have now threatened the life of the spiritual leader of millions of Roman Catholics.
So far there has been nothing but a deafening silence...

From now on, the reporting will be about the Muslim rage, and whether the Vatican has apologized yet. That is the "drama" the media will seek to capture -- the drama of the cockfight -- because they know no better kind. Perfect analysis.

To me, other than maybe Phyllis Schlafly, Warren is the most perceptive & articulate conservative Catholic writing in North America today.
In case you missed it, there's a link to a possibly even better article of his up above in my post #8.
