It's been a while since the Romans made sport of feeding Christians to the lions, but there's a terrible new Colosseum-style feeding frenzy emerging a new bloodlust for eliminating the plague of uppity Christians right here in the U.S.
You think I'm exaggerating?
Take a look at what Mel Seesholtz, a Ph.D. and professor of English at Pennsylvania State University, offered up yesterday in the Online Journal, a website that boasts of being established in 1998 "to provide uncensored and accurate news, analysis and commentary."
Seesholtz has his panties in a bunch over opposition by Christians in California to what is euphemistically called there "the Bias Free Curriculum Act."
He holds out for scorn the Capitol Resource Institute, a Christian pro-family lobby in Sacramento, James Dobson's Focus on the Family and me.

Looking at current events rather than looking at Jesus will get you every time.

I prefer to be OBEDIENT TO JESUS
and obey HIS EXHORTATION TO WATCH THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES RELATIVE TO THE END TIMES . . . BE ALERT AND READY.
Of course, folks have free will options to avoid obeying Jesus. Unless, perhaps that's not true for Hollanders. Though I think it is true, whether they think so, or not.
Looking at current events rather than looking at Jesus will get you every time.

I suppose some have a hard time SEEKING GOD FIRST AND FOREMOST AND KEEPING ONE'S EYES ON CHRIST
while
ALSO OBEYING CHRIST and watching alertly, keenly the SIGNS OF THE TIMES relative to the END TIMES AS JESUS HIMSELF VERY FORCEFULLY EXHORTED HIS FOLLOWERS TO DO.
Somehow, by God's Grace, many of us manage to keep God first; our eyes largely on Christ most of the time AND obey Him about watching the signs of the times.
Maybe it's a multitasking thing.
And you've presupposed that she would have been shot anyway.
So did the guy WITH sin cast the first one?
I could well imagine that God's perspective on Lindsey's grevious marital stuff is somewhat different.
. . . as it was vis a vis the woman caught in adultery and her critics.
I'm also confident that God is well able to teach Hal whatever lessons from all those struggles that God finds it a priority for Hal to learn in this life.
And, the revealed KGB files in Germany disclosed the Soviet Union had given 10's of millions of US Dollars over the whole of the cold war to insure that our universities were staffed with Godless, Marxists, socialists, bent on helping destroy our institutions, the family, our Republic from within.
Just another reason why education should not be subsidized nor financed by the federal goverment. Keep the funding at the state level at most for Universities (Public that is), at the county levels for Junior colleges, and at the local level for primary and secondary schools.
The federal government can not, has not, and will not ever do a proper job of education.
It appears that we are expected to understand that the poster of said assaults on Hal is lily white in terms of never repeateing any sin more than once.
Therefore the seemingly many buckets of rocks have the Heavenly seal of approval for vigorous throwing.
However, I'm exceedingly skeptical that said appearances are the least bit true.
I've known, over the decades,
quite a number of pontificating RELIGIOUS types who were habitually asserting at loud volume and in frequent heralded declarations that
THE OTHER FELLOW
must go and sin no more . . .
while carefully hiding, side stepping and wholesale avoiding the fact that they'd rarely to never been able to avoid repeating a sin more than once.
I realize that Hollanders repeatedly seem to construe themselves to be possibly even closer to God than Moses and St Paul in their capacities to avoid sinning the same sin a 2nd time, ever. Alas, in my human frailty, I find myself more than a little skeptical about the veracity of such constructions on reality.
But, hey, IF the Hollanders have a corner on the market of such righteousness, sanctification and tidy boxed pristine loftiness--perhaps they'd be willing to share their secrets with us more common and flawed mortals.
But then, wouldn't that be getting back into the WORKS BASED; TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL; pull one's self into Godliness by one's bootstraps sort of RELIGION?
How does one sort it all out?
Great points as always. Thanks.
Who are these "Hollanders" of which you speak, Quix?
Are you attempting a clumsy ad hom against TopCat54 and all the other Reformers and Calvinists on this thread (Hollanders being a clumsy "Dutch Calvinist" reference to tulips) who posted disagreements with the dispensational eschatologies of Greg Laurie and Hal Lindsey (and the quadruples marriages of the latter)?
Are you making us the subject of this thread now?
My reading of the Scriptures about judging in a good Christian way is in the context of brotherly love and exhortations toward Godliness and good works.
Quite the opposite of shrill hostilities at the end of long pontifical proud, self-righteous fingers.
I'm TRYING
to highlight a perceived attitude.
Not personhoods.
I do assume that folks throwing rocks are automatically insisting that THEY have the RIGHTEOUSNESS and lofty perch from which to justifiably throw said rocks.
Though I've yet to find such really objectively the case.
In my experience, folks who are truly lofty in their righteousness and humility just tend to avoid throwing rocks. They exhort in Christian Love from time to time as Holy Spirit directs. They may caution onlookers in humility and gentleness. They may even be firm or even stern in rare cases. But they virtually never throw rocks and certainly not of the sort so commonly hereon.
I think these are important spiritual principles to sort through. And, I didn't introduce them first into this thread. They were rather brazenly introduced by others.
Can you show the post where someone said THE OTHER FELLOW must go and sin no more?
Of course you can't. No one said any such thing.
It's really cute how some folks like to point their fingers at others and tell them not to point fingers.
Oh, I wouldn't expect my humble words to be attractive to everyone. But perhaps some seeking growth will find them fitting.
It seemed to me that the judgment was leveled rather fiercely and arbitrarily at Hal Lindsey and Greg Laurie as THE OTHER FELLOWS.
Perhaps I misunderstood. Have they been reinstated as Brothers in Christ on a par with the rest of us?
I think I missed that memo.
Let me quess...that was a judgement of brotherly love and an exhortation toward Godliness, right?
Our criticisms of Hal Lindsay are self-righteous and prideful, but your criticisms of us (where you repeatedly accuse us of sin) are loving?
Save the sanctimony, Quix. I don't care much for it, and I'm pretty sure God doesn't either.
I merely assert that all of us are sinners supposedly working out our own Salvation in fear and trembling as Scriptures instruct. And that none of us have arrived at the station wherein we can brazenly insist that we never commit any specific sin more than once.
Of course, if folks were to declare openly before God that they HAVE ARRIVED AND DO, IN FACT, NEVER repeat the same specific sin more than once, I'd be willing to consider the assertion and perhaps seek lessons in spiritual maturity from said lofty saints.
But I also am rather averse to seemingly very lopsided and seemingly rather pot and kettle hostilities leveled at Hal Lindsey whom I've met and found to be a very faithful and earnest believer in our Lord . . . who asserts that Christ came in the flesh and all the other basic doctrines.
It might help for you to put down the stones while you're trying to make your point, Quix.
