"What transpired at Towton on a snowy Palm Sunday, March 29th, 1461, has ever since been something of a mystery, despite the battle being one of the largest and bloodiest ever fought on English soil. During the battle and ensuing rout of the Lancastrians, an estimated 28,000 men lost their lives. none of the sources on the internet seem to say how they got the 28,000 figure.
the "mass grave" that is discussed in the article contained 37 skeletons. it would take a lot of these mass graves to add up to 28,000.
the battle of the bulge lasted three days. note the number of American dead:
