I remember the fire sirens in SE Pa. going off every day at 12 noon for decades.
They still do where I live. I also remember very well my first school air raid drill. Kindergarten 1957. My teacher made an announcement that we were going to have a drill the following day. I was absolutely petrified and did not want to go to school. It took a great deal of convincing from my mother to get me on the bus that morning.
