Glaring omission in the TV show. We started from scratch, and built a national policy on Afghanistan up from nothing, all the studies, all the players, all the NSC deputies. Clinton left us nothing there, not even a paper clip in country. Everything was run from the Islamabad station.
The policy was ready for Bush to look at September 10.
We were going to arm Masood to the teeth.
And Giuliani gave a great rundown earlier in the evening of all the accomplishments that have been implemented *since* 9-11. Afghanistan being way up there.
I guess it is nice to know we WERE going to arm Massoud...too bad it didn't happen sooner.
