He also represented Lemuel Smith who killed Correction Officer Donna Payant in 1981. Smith was doing two life sentences for killing two people in a religious bookstore years earlier. He'd also been suspected in a few other murders in the Albany, NY area. And if I'm not mistaken, Kuntsler represented Colin Ferguson for the L.I. Railway massacre. All of us who worked in the NY State prison system celebrated when Kuntsler died.
