Maybe parents do not want their children in kindergarten being taught that homosexuality is normal.
Not so much of that going on in Whittier. (Still an old Quaker town.) I probably should have mentioned that the districts in the article, South and Whittier City, appear to be about 90% Hispanic (and probably mostly illegal in the South). We're in East Whittier, which is about 50-60% Hispanic (within the schools, I mean).
At least they haven't stuck my grandson in some bilingual class...yet...
