Another question is why is the Catholic Church incolved in this?
"Cardinal Roger Mahoney will talk about immigration reform legislation during a Labor Day Mass. "
Cardinal R. Mahoney is on the radical left fringe of Catholicism. Most Catholics in the U.S. understand this and abhor the things he does/is doing to the Catholic Church in the U.S., (me included). Even this barren looking "cathedral" he built at parishoner expense is hugely controversial amongst Catholics, as was his going into business in the grave industry.
That said, Cardinal Mahoney does not represent Catholics beyond the radical left fringe element in the Church who want to turn the Church into a liberal 'democracy' and bastion of feminist and homosexual "rights". Mahoney is not the Pope, nor does he represent him in any official way; so what he says and does cannot honestly be said to represent the Catholic Church in any official way. The man is a radical, liberal renegade, even amongst most of his liberal peers in the U.S. He is a major embarrassment to most Catholics.
